A democratic rehearsal.
PHAMALY (The Physically Handicapped Actors and Musical Artists League) is a Denver-based theatre company and the only group in the country to produce large-scale professional productions featuring an entire cast of actors with disabilities.
PHAMALY's mission is to enable persons with disabilities to showcase their talents and abilities through live productions and to make the performing arts more accessible to
everyone.

Charlie I. Miller, PHAMALY Title of Film:

THESE PEOPLE HAVE TOUCHED MY HEART AND SOUL FOR YEARS AS I SEE EACH PRODUCTION AND I WILL FOREVER BE AMAZED WITH THEIR TALENT..THIS IS TRULY THEATER AT BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROCK? I do not think so.
0/10 according Google PageRank. Your "Show Up..." is NOT successful, Google PageRank said.
Where these number of votes came from?? Film is not popular -s Scale is still gray, mean dead. No popularity.
I'm sorry. See it yourself! - Get your Google Tool Bar. With 740 number of votes scale should change color already to white. But it didn't happen...
It reminds me voting for W. Bush in FLA
PHAMALY is REMARKABLE!!! I have been going to their shows for several years (now they have started doing dramas in the winter)and leave each one completely awed and inspired! Everything about the productions is first-class professional and within about two seconds after the lights go down, you become immersed in the show and don't even think about various disbilities the cast brings to the stage. The costumes, stage direction, graceful dealing with special considerations due to various physical challenges, singing, dancing, and acting are top-notch professional!! I am graced to be able to have the opportunity to see each PHAMALY production and always look forward to the next one. I have gotten a friend totally hooked too, so we go together!
I saw my first Phamaly production this summer while on vacation in Denver. I was entertained by the performance as well as the clever costumes and choreography that made it hard to even tell that the actors were handicaped. (Or as my brother says..handi-capable!)
I love that you do so much outreach and I think your organization is a great example to all. There should be a group like yours in every state! Break a Leg!
Democracy denotes care, compassion and the desire to include all segments of our society. PHAMALY is the very essence of that spirit brought to life in the real world of differently abled people.
Moved to tears? Don't kid yourself. Exploiting poor people for promoting your so called "charity?" I just hope there are less of these BS groups than there are slots, or has every single thing in this country become rigged?
These people in the video are loving doing this. Magic Moments is proof of it. You do not get it and obviously don't know any disabled individuals very well if at all.
Phamaly has brought me and my family more pleasure and joy over the past few years than I could possibly explain! These are amazing people and actors who continue to inspire Denverites! How sad that you are so quick to judge and so negative -- it must be very difficult looking at the world through your eyes. I DO feel sorry for you. Phamaly Fan
I have had the privilege of experiencing several of the brilliant plays performed by PHAMALY over the past several years in Denver. I can assure you, with 100% certainty that no one is being exploited here. The talents are absolutley top drawer, and the actors are inspirational.
he costumes and music are also amazing!
Keep inspiring us , PHAMALY! Good luck with your poignant video submission.
I support PHAMALY 100% My very good friend has been apart of PHAMALY fo rseveral years and every perfomance is outstanding! To me it stands for more then the eye can see!!!
amazing if it were professionally produced...even more so given the age of the director and the special needs of the actors. In many ways what was achieved with that mixture was exacly what is missing in our society - not because of the fault of any government or system, but because we seldom slow down enough to look into our own souls in order to understand that which blocks us from seeing the souls of others in action.
Bravo!
Great film, and such a wonderful organization! PHAMALY is truly the essence of democracy...a talented ensemble of different voices, all valued and respected for the unique viewpoints they bring to the group as a whole. It's time the whole nation knew about it!!!
wonderful film and a deserving winner--truly illustrates that democracy means "for all." Great job actors and filmaker!
Only down side are some of the comments made by certain people--fortunately a very small, sad, unenlightened minority...but democracy means everyone gets to speak and have their opinions heard.
I also have a good friend belonging to Phamaly....I strongly encourage supporting this group and believe that this film deserves to be on here.
Phamaly is amazing and good luck to this film as well as many others .While your at it, Please check out what my 12 year old child posted on this site at the link above.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Our democracy is made stronger, by giving all the people, a voice. For the skeptic commenters, "there but for the grace of god, go you". Someday, you'll have a child, grandchild, niece, nephew, etc.. who must go through life with some type of disability. You'll see these projects differently, once you've seen firsthand how quickly people discount the disabled. Bravo
I find it amazing that people who are in a situation in which I would personally NEVER want to be in, can use that situation, and find thier passion within it. I also find it amazing that any "normal" person, (as a few have written below), would EVER judge or minimize the day to day struggle of this lifestyle. I am proud to watch them, not only because of what they overcome every day, but because of the true talent they have and are still confident enough to use. THANK YOU, PHAMLY for inspiring everyone around you, even those of us who are "normal".
Where the heck did you get 400 votes in one day from? How many of these damn things are there anyway? Anchor Center? Phamaly? What's next, some video on Deaf? Another on people with bad luck? Can we leave at least ONE spot for a film that's NOT from some large organization?
Obviously, I am talking about this film, and the Anchor Center. I mean seriously, how many of these so-called "charitable organizations" are gonna get hundreds of votes? And once again just like that Anchor Center film, it is completely irrelevant.
Outcast, on the other hand, and even the other films, all are relevant, and are not cheating. I can't wait until this film also gets 2000 votes, probably five minutes before they close the voting or something ^_^
Or maybe even when I finish typing this sentence...
Clearly the anchor center one is just drumming up votes for a topic that has no connection to the theme of the contest. PHAMLY's latest production, Show up for Democracy, however, is quite relevant. PHAMLY is not a large organization, but does have a dedicated following, and really represents the disability community, a group of individuals with disabilities running their own show -- Nothing about us without us!
I love this company. Every show I've seen them do has been a first rate production with first rate talent. I've been moved to laughter, and I've been moved to tears, and every time I've been totally blown away. 've recently moved from Denver to Chicago, and I plan on flying in to Denver just to see their shows. I love this company.
Great job everyone. My family has been happy to be part of PHAMALy helping them backstage at shows. They are the most inspiring people we know. We wish them all future success!
With the time you had to create this short clip, it is very well done. I have attended almost all of the Phamaly productions and I totally support this group of fine actors and actresses. Kudos.
I know the Dems are aiming for a truly diverse and inclusive convention -- think what a message a film by PHAMALY would send about real inclusiveness!! I would love to see more of this group!
I like how the movie itself is accessible to all - subtitles are creatively incorporated into the film and all the titles are spoken so that the visually impaired can enjoy it too. Way to practice what you preach. Great work!
