I found this video through PHAMALy's "Show Up for Democracy" A Democratic Rehearsal" comments, chiding the 20 year old group for being "large." I'd like to remind our gentle viewers that PHAMALy was started by a small handful of people who saw that a change needed to be made. Mostly, though, through mentioning that, I want to encourage these talented kids to keep up the good work!
The THREE (3) kids who worked on this film are all to be commended! They ALL deserve credit -- Each brought their creative eye and mastery of skills to the piece. WAY TO GO MAGGIE, RYAN, AND NOAH!
This is such an accomplishment for a few middle school students. I was really impressed. You should all feel very proud that your film is doing so well. Congrats!
GREAT MOVIE!!!! really well done.
i enjoyed every moment.
Love the music and think you more than deserve at the very least a great big happy nod for point well executed.
the people whom have given negative feedback are crazy and you can see that they are just jealous at how well you are doing. There are so many positive comments and those are the ones you truly deserve.
There seem to be a person or persons who keep writing not-so-nice comments in *poor* English. How about creating a grammatically correct, interesting, even thoughtful or provocative comment, whether or not you "like" the video or not - now THAT would be a real expression of democracy, I say.
you guys have done an awesome job on this film and now there's controversy...cool! keep up the good work, and no matter what the outcome of this contest you need to be very proud of yourselves for this very good, very artistic interpretation of democracy.
Wow, lots of emotion coming out from this film. That is good. Makes me a proud mom of one of the directors. I like to come on and watch this film. Makes me think, makes me smile. Since these three directors are in middle school, we will be seeing more work from them in the years! Excellent work kids!
it seems this and the Anchor movie were both flagged...why? and who did it? could the director of the site be the one whom flagged both so they could both be evaluated? Just wondering. I can see how someone would want to flag the Anchor film for it's "relevancy" but this film is clearly relevant, both good films though so I was a bit surprised that either got flagged. I must admit I am more for this film though. Kudos to these film makers and I hope you get this all worked out. Cheers
We have been watching this video since it was submitted back in May.
The count has increased slowly and meticulously through us passing around the video via emails and those people passing it on, etc...
400 votes in 66 days does not seem like a statistical anomaly to me. I don't know what in the world is going on, but now it all of a sudden seems that people are talking lawsuits and cheating.
And since you are serious about it... these statements constitute libel in ALL 50 STATES. I don't want to hear one more comment about Cheating on this. And I don't want to hear another comment about "lawsuit".
if for any reason it becomes obvious that this is illegal contest and not purely technical error, i have documented the evidence of the "cinevulnerability" for any interested parties willing to commence a lawsuit.
hmm it appears that the anchor center video took advantage of the "cinevulnerability" that was on this site before, i don't know when they fixed it but i swear just a couple of days ago i clicked the star like ten times i swear i could've just continued to click the star if i wanted to and in less than 5 minutes the video i clicked on would have over 800 votes. Now it only allows one vote per computer, but i swear they fixed it really recently. is that seriously how the whole contest went until now, with the ability for any user to vote how many times they want on their video?
Ok they forgot to put it in their code or whatever but what bothers me is that somehow this video was just uploaded, gets 800+ votes, and THEN they fix the vulnerability. Also just a few minutes ago I checked all the videos again and I can say with certainty the anchor center video is the only video that took advantage of this obvious lack of security that was probably there for a long time.
If this is truly a coincidence, then the admin will remove the anchor center video as soon as possible, by weekend's end at most. At the least the end user should be asked to re upload the anchor center video now that the vulnerability has been fixed, bet you they would not get even 50 votes in one day now that they fixed the problem.
it says that top 10 videos will be shown at Convention what bothers me is that this may be a fake contest. Admin can recover the vulnerability at any time when nobody is watching the site and 9 more videos can come up, obtain 100000000 votes and because “public decision is “final”” there is no remedy. However it is important to note that if admin does not address the obvious fact that vulnerability was taken advantage of in anchor center video, and/or for any reason 9 other videos pop up meaning that the cinevulnerability was deliberately restored, then there is a possibility to recover substantial money in damages. I would think that this is not the case because I would think that the Democratic National Convention Host Committee would not want to put themselves in such a situation. That said, I look forward to watching a fair contest until August 1.
Just wanted to let you know that even now, you do still have rights in this country, and you should know them.
It appears your video was flagged. Retaliation from Mr. Anchor, I see…
With 141,000 members strong (and seeing as the director is apparently a member), the Delta Gammas could've easily brought in 800 votes.
And... to the best of my knowledge... the voting has ALWAYS been locked to IP address. You can click on the stars as many times as you want... but the number of votes won't actually move.
Also... if you could get 800 votes in five minutes... then why don't they have 80,000 votes today? Two points of interest:
1. Why wouldn't they just stop at three or four hundred so it would look less suspicious?
2. If they weren't concerned with suspicion... why stop at 800? Why not 8 million?
3. Who's to say that this film, also recently uploaded, ALSO with a much higher ratio of votes to time actually in the contest didn't also cheat?
4. Why would these two films be the only ones to have figured that out? Were the rest of the directors too honest or too stupid?
I can't say I'm happy the Anchor film OR this film have as many votes as they do... but I'm not buying your answer that they were able to get them just by clicking a button a few hundred times..
sorry your answer is incorrect, i have documented the vulnerability and will provide it to you upon request if you are the owner of this video, or any of the other valid entries, and i will help you to commence legal action. however it is likely that the error is purely technical, which could be legally acceptable if appropriate action is taken.
Noah, Ryan and Maggie, you have done a beautiful job and though it seems someone is cheating their way to beat you in this contest , know that you deserved to win!
indeed, you deserve to win. To think that a last minute submission could beat your film doesn't make sense and it is a shame. Thank you allowing us to view your remarkable work.
I'm not down on the kids and their work. I'm down on the person thinks that another film can actually "cheat" in this contest. These students are definitely talented and I'm sure will go on to college and excel in the field of their choice. Hopefully my point about the intentions of making any film are understood and I'm sure the students who made this film would agree -- art should NOT be made to win awards and accolades, but rather because the author has something to say. Sorry, gang if my comments were taken as disparaging towards the students and their work. I certainly wish them the best of luck!
rebelling is actually anything that goes against something....the kid is going against what this teacher wants the students to do.....
this film is one that will appeal to all ages, is short and to the point and doesn't need to tell the same thing over and over again like so many others on this site. Even my 3 and 4 year olds loved watching this....BRAVO!
You're right: Rebelling IS anything that goes against something... but that kid isn't going against his teacher: He just waited until his teacher turned his back and ran.
THAT is not rebelling.
3-4 year old kids could probably appreciate The Rebels going "against" the Empire. They wouldn't be rebels if they just moved to a different galaxy now would they?
At the very least he could've left right in his teacher's face instead of waiting til his back was turned. THAT at least would have been an act of defiance. This was a simple escape.
What if, instead of leading the Revolution, George Washington just skipped off to Mexico? Would they call him a rebel?
honestly, come on!

Works that were great commentaries on the perils of losing democracy? This film follows the same tack.
But it's not like those are heralded pieces of work. Huxley and Orwell aren't celebrated authors or anything.
But it's nice to see that the uneducated get a vote too... Isn't that democracy?
If you are going to go after someone else, the least you could do is have a substantiated argument.
